Don't let a sweet tooth interfere with your health and wellness goals. With these easy-to-follow instructions, you'll learn to make vegan soft ice cream with frozen bananas, frozen berries, non-dairy milk, and vanilla, aka berry nice cream. No ice cream maker needed!

This nice cream flavor is practically effortless. It's as simple as adding four ingredients to a high speed blender, turning it on, and then stepping back as it blends the frozen banana and berries, almond milk, and vanilla into a smooth and creamy dairy free, low calorie frozen dessert.

Nice cream topped with frozen blueberries.

    Why You'll Love This Recipe

    • Make delicious dairy-free ice cream in 5 minutes or less - no churning needed.
    • A healthy dessert to satisfy sugar cravings.
    • Made with fresh, natural food ingredients.
    • Easy to modify with flavors and your favorite ice cream toppings.
    • Naturally dairy-free and vegan!

    Ingredients You'll Need

Labeled ingredients for the nice cream.
    • Frozen Bananas: Bananas become sweeter as they ripen. Use bananas that are deep yellow and beginning to brown.
    • Frozen Berries: Use your favorite berry or a few different types and make mixed berry nice cream. Use a medley of strawberry, blueberry, blackberry, and raspberry
    • Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk: Or any full fat unsweetened dairy-free vanilla-flavored milk. Coconut, oat, and cashew are good options. The calories will vary slightly between the options
    • Vanilla Extract: Use quality vanilla extract for the most creamy and dreamy berry nice cream.

    Step-By-Step Instructions

Steps to make the nice cream.

Step 1: Add milk. Pour the almond milk into your blender.

Step 2: Add frozen fruits & flavor. Followed by the frozen banana, frozen berries, and vanilla extract.

Step 3: Blend until smooth. Blend until the mixture is soft and creamy. This will take about a minute.

Step 4: Serve. And that's it. You can either enjoy your nice cream immediately in bowls or ice cream cones or freeze it for later. Add healthy toppings if you like, and enjoy!

NOTE: You can print the FULL recipe with all ingredients & detailed instructions below!

Two glasses of nice cream on a wood table.

    Expert Tips

    • For extra creamy and fluffy nice cream, try replacing half of the almond milk with thick coconut cream.
    • Add a pinch of salt to make everything sweet taste even sweeter.
    • This recipe works best with a high-speed blender or high-powered food processor.
    • The berry nice cream will be very soft. For a thicker, scoopable texture closer to regular ice cream, let the mixture freeze for about an hour to thicken. If it freezes too much, let it sit out at room temperature to soften for a few minutes.
    • Nice cream tends to melt quickly, so keep it in the freezer if you aren't serving it right away.

    Variations

The berry nice cream flavor options are endless. See below for a few ideas:

    • Strawberry: Blend frozen bananas with frozen strawberries, strawberry almond milk, and vanilla.
    • Blackberry banana: Frozen bananas, frozen blackberries, vanilla almond milk, and vanilla bean.
    • Chocolate raspberry: Blend bananas, raspberries, and vanilla almond milk, with 2-4 tablespoons of dutch-processed cocoa powder.
    • Cherry vanilla: Cream frozen bananas, frozen cherries, vanilla almond milk, and pure vanilla.

Treat yourself to a healthy nice cream sundae with your favorite toppings and melted nut butter drizzled over the top. These toppings are perfect for nutritious nice cream:

    • Crunchy granola
    • Shredded coconut
    • Cacao nibs
    • Chopped nuts
    • Fresh chopped fruit and berries

For toppings more naughty than nice:

    • Chocolate sauce
    • Caramel
    • Melted marshmallow
    • Sprinkles
    • Mini white chocolate chips
    • Shaved dark chocolate
    • Oreo crumbs
    • Whipped cream

    Storing

This recipe makes about 6 scoops. Leftovers keep well in a freezer safe container for up to 3 months. Set the container out for a few minutes to let it soften whenever you're craving something sweet.

    Recipe FAQβ€˜s

    Is nice cream healthy?

Yes, that's what makes it nice. It's a satisfying way to enjoy creamy ice cream with fewer calories. Not to mention, the ingredients are dairy-free and plant-based.

    Can you freeze nice cream?

Yes! Freezing nice cream creates a texture similar to traditional ice cream. Blend the ingredients until smooth and creamy, and then scrape the fluffy mixture into a shallow freezer-safe container with a tight-fitting lid. Another option is freezing nice cream in single servings.

Can I freeze nice cream in popsicle molds?

Absolutely. After blending, transfer the banana berry mixture to popsicle molds and freeze for 6-8 hours. Once frozen solid, transfer the popsicles to an airtight freezer-safe bag or container and place parchment in between each. Keep frozen for 2-3 months.

Why does my berry nice cream taste bitter?

Nice cream should taste like sweet, creamy bananas and juicy berries. The bananas may have been underripe, or the berries weren't very sweet if it had a bitter taste.

Hi Angelina, yes you can. If you put the leftovers in a freezer safe, airtight container it should last a few months. When you’re ready to eat it again, remove it from the freezer for a few minutes so it can soften a little first. πŸ™‚
