This vegan whipped coffee makes the perfect topping to your favorite milk.

This is a fun drink for adults and teenagers. It’s also a fun activity to do together too. My daughter enjoyed making this with me.

What is instant coffee?

Instant coffee is made from brewed coffee that is converted into powdered coffee by extracting the liquid of the coffee bean. All the liquid is removed so all that is left are coffee crystals. Instant coffee granules are dissolve easily when they’re mixed with water to create a cup of coffee.

How to make this recipe

1 – Mix equal parts instant coffee, granulated sugar and hot water together in a small mixing bowl. I use 2 tablespoons of each, which is enough for two servings.

2 – Whip until the ingredients are frothy and light brown. You can mix by hand, but I recommend a hand mixer since it can take 4-5 minutes to get the desired texture.

It’s similar to making fresh whipped cream. You’ll see stiff peaks forming as more air gets beaten into the liquid.

3 – Top your favorite milk and enjoy!

Ways to use whipped coffee?

Aside from topping your favorite milk, you can also use to top ice cream, cake, or to mix into sodas. 

Can I store whipped coffee for later?

Whipped coffee should be used immediately, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days.

  • 2 tbsp instant coffee, I use Folgers
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp hot water, boiling is best


  1. In a medium sized mixing bowl, add the instant coffee, sugar and hot water. With an electric mixer, mix for 4-5 minutes until it becomes light and airy forming stiff peaks. You can also vigorously whisk by hand.
  2. Top your favorite cold milk and enjoy!
