Red White and Jell-O Low-Calorie Dessert

 

Happy Independence Day! Does anyone have any fun plans today? We will probably do some grilling since that is what we love to do the most on summer holidays. We’ll probably get some sparklers and little fireworks for the kids to do at home too. I wish we could spend more time outdoors but it’s just so hot. In fact, it’s supposed to be 106 degrees today for a high, so not as much fun outside as I would like.

The high temps is one of the biggest reasons I love to cook outside when I am able, so I’m not heating up the house too much. This Jell-O dessert is also perfect because it’s light and chilled, so no cooking required. I love desserts that are no-bake and simple. Both wins in my book!

 

If you are going to serve this for an afternoon or evening treat, I recommend getting started first thing in the morning since Jell-O takes some time to chill and set up in the fridge. There are methods to expedite the chilling process, such as adding ice to the Jell-O mixture when preparing. All the information is right on the box.

I used sugar-free Jell-O for this dessert, and combined with the Reddi-Wip and fruit each serving is only 44 calories. That is hard to beat for a dessert! I used the original Reddi-Whip for my dessert, but they also offer non-dairy options made with almond or coconut milk.  Another bonus is this is a fairly inexpensive dessert to make.

 

Tip: If making these to serve for a party or gathering, they can be made in paper or plastic cups. This way you don’t have to worry about any of your dishes getting broken, especially if at an outdoor event.

Red White and Jell-O Low-Calorie Dessert

If you are looking for a simple 4th of July dessert, look no further. This Red, White and Jell-O treat is low in calories and a crowd pleaser.

Ingredients

  • 1 package sugar-free strawberry Jell-O Or any flavor you'd like.
  • 8 tbsp Reddi-Wip cream
  • 2 large strawberries, chopped small
  • 1/4 cup blueberries

Instructions

  • Prepare Jell-O according to direction on box. Divide Jell-O mixture into 4 cups. Chill in fridge approximately 3 hours, or until set.
  • Top each cup of Jell-O with about 2 tbsp Reddi-Wip cream. Top with strawberries and blueberries.
  • Serve immediately. Enjoy!

Notes

Keep Jell-O in fridge until ready to serve. Once topped with Reddi-Wip, Jell-O should be served immediately as both will melt if it's too warm.
