    Expert Tips

Need a few extra tips to help you get this recipe right? Check out these tips for making fish and chips in the air fryer even better!

    • Make sure to coat your fish and chips in a light layer of oil before placing them in the air fryer. This will help them crisp up and give them a delicious golden-brown color.
    • To ensure that your fish and chips cook evenly, arrange them so that they are not overlapping each other in the Air Fryer basket.
    • Be careful not to overcrowd the basket. If you put too many pieces in at once, they won’t be able to cook properly and will become soggy instead of crispy.
    • Once the first batch has been cooked, transfer it onto a plate lined with kitchen paper to absorb any excess oil. This will help keep your fish and chips crispy for longer!

    Variations

    • Use different types of fish in your air fryer fish and chips. Try haddock, cod, or salmon for a variety of flavors.
    • Mix up the breadcrumbs you use to coat the fish. From panko to ready-made coating mixes, there are lots of options available.
    • Add some herbs or spices to the crumb mix for an extra flavor boost. Try smoked paprika, garlic powder, and dried oregano for a delicious result.
    • Switch out the traditional chips for sweet potato chips for a healthier and equally delicious alternative!

    Storing & Freezing

Storing: Store leftovers in the refrigerator in an airtight container. They will last for 2-3 days. To reheat, place your prepared fish and chips in the air fryer at 400 degrees F for 3-4 minutes.

    Freezing: Freezing is not recommended.

    Recipe FAQ's

How long do I need to cook my fish and chips in the air fryer?

Cook times will vary depending on the size of your pieces, but a good rule of thumb is 8-10 minutes. Be sure to check that they’re cooked through and golden brown before serving.

Can I use any type of oil when air frying fish and chips?

You can use any type of oil you prefer: olive oil, vegetable oil, canola oil, as well as nonstick cooking spray for best results.

Is it better to freeze or refrigerate leftover fish and chips after cooking them in the air fryer?

It’s always best to store leftover food in an airtight container or bag in the fridge. If you plan to store leftovers for an extended period, it’s best to freeze them instead.
