Air Fryer Filet Mignon

- 2 filet mignon steaks approximately 6 ounces each
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 sprigs fresh rosemary
- 2 cloves garlic minced
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F for about 5 minutes.
- While the air fryer is preheating, season the filet mignon steaks generously with salt and pepper on all sides. Rub minced garlic onto the steaks and place a sprig of rosemary on top for added flavor.
- Drizzle olive oil over the steaks and rub it all over to coat them evenly.
- Once the air fryer is preheated, carefully place the filet mignon steaks in the air fryer basket.
- Cook the steaks in the air fryer for approximately 10-12 minutes for medium-rare doneness. For medium, cook them for about 12-14 minutes, and for medium-well, cook them for 14-16 minutes. The exact cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of your steaks and your personal preference, so adjust accordingly.
- After the initial cooking time, flip the steaks using tongs and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes to ensure even cooking on both sides. This will help develop a nice crust on the exterior.
- Once cooked to your desired doneness, remove the steaks from the air fryer and let them rest for a few minutes before serving. This resting time allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, resulting in a more tender and flavorful steak.
- Serve the steaks hot, garnished with fresh herbs, if desired.
Notes
- Don't be shy with the salt and pepper! Filet mignon can handle a good amount of seasoning, so be generous when seasoning the steaks on all sides.
- Give the air fryer enough time to preheat properly. This helps create that beautiful sear on the outside of the steaks and locks in the juices.
- Make sure to leave enough space between the steaks in the air fryer basket so that the hot air can circulate around them evenly. Overcrowding can result in uneven cooking.
- When it's time to flip the steaks, use tongs instead of a fork. Piercing the meat with a fork can cause the juices to escape, leading to a drier steak.
- Storing: Let the cooked filet mignon cool to room temperature. Wrap it tightly in plastic wrap or place it in an airtight container. Store it in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
- Freezing: Allow the cooked filet mignon to cool completely before freezing. Individually wrap the filet mignon steaks in plastic wrap or aluminum foil. It can be safely stored in the freezer for up to 2-3 months. Transfer from the freezer to the refrigerator and let thaw overnight when you're ready to eat them.
