Cheesy Cabbage Steaks
This easy roasted cabbage side dish is SO delicious thanks to cabbage that is smothered in cheesy marinara. This side dish is very easy to make and very hands off, making it a great weeknight recipe.

Ingredients
- 1 small green cabbage
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder or as needed
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika or as needed
- ½ teaspoon each salt and pepper or to taste
- ½-1 cup marinara sauce as needed
- 8-10 slices provolone or mozzarella cheese as needed (or ~1.5 cups shredded mozzarella)
- fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Remove any loose cabbage leaves from the top, we only want cabbage layers that are "together." Slice the cabbage into ¾ to 1-inch thick "steaks", discarding the core. You should get at least 6-8 steaks.
- Carefully place the cabbage steaks onto your prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with olive oil and season each one with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Roast at 350F for 30-40 minutes, or until the cabbage is mostly easy to slice through with a knife.
- Add a couple of tablespoons of marinara sauce to the top of each cabbage. Place a slice of cheese on top. Roast for another 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the cabbage is easy to slice through.
- Remove from oven and garnish with fresh basil. Serve hot.
